2012 Bowl Games: Oregon State to play Texas in Alamo Bowl

The Oregon St. Beavers and Texas Longhorns will play with a lot to prove as they have hung out outside of the elite programs in the country all season.

According to a tweet from Angie Machado of BeaverBlitz.com, the Oregon St. Beavers will play the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl.

The Beavers finished their regular season by slaughtering Nicholls St., 77-3. Sitting at 9-3 overall and 6-3 in the Pac-12, the Beavers were a top-15 team for much of the season and were ranked No. 15 heading into their game against Nicholls.

The Beavers have wins over the Wisconsin Badgers and UCLA Bruins but lost a close game to the Stanford Cardinal and were blown out by the Oregon Ducks. The Badgers are headed to the Rose Bowl to play the Cardinal and the Ducks are headed to a BCS Bowl as an at-large team so the Beavers have played and beaten top level teams all season.

The Longhorns went 1-3 in their games against ranked opponents including losing the Big 12 championship game, 42-24, to the Kansas St. Wildcats. The Longhorns' season was made up of streaks. They won four straight, lost two straight, won four straight then lost their final two.

Both teams will want to end the season with a win to show they are still among the top teams in the country.
