Arizona State vs. Oregon State 2012 final score: Beavers come back to beat Sun Devils, 36-26

Oregon State was handed its first loss of the season last week against Washington. The Beavers didn't like how losing felt, so they took out their aggressions on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

No. 11 Oregon State would like to pretend that last week didn't happen. The Beavers earned their first loss of the season in a tight game against Pac-12 rival Washington. Saturday night's game against another Pac-12 foe, the Arizona State Sun Devils, looked to be headed down the same road, until Oregon State remembered it is ranked in the Top 25 for a reason. The Beavers overcame an 11-point deficit to beat ASU, 36-26.

The Sun Devils took to the scoreboard first, scoring an ugly touchdown just 21 seconds into the game. Oregon State quarterback Cody Vaz fumbled the ball on his team's 1 yard line. Junior Onyeali for ASU recovered the ball and ran it one yard into the endzone. After a field goal by the Beavers, ASU scored another touchdown, this time on a Cameron Marshall rush for one yard. OSU answered one minute later with a 50-yard Markus Wheaton reception for the touchdown. With a minute and a half to go in the first, the Sun Devils' Kevin Ayers blocked a Keith Kostol punt for a safety.

In the second quarter, ASU built on its 16-10 lead with a field goal. Down by nine points, Oregon State running back Terron Ward ran for 53 yards and the touchdown, but kicker Trevor Romaine missed the extra point, and the score remained at 19-16. Right as the clock ticked down to zero, the Beavers kicked a field goal to tie the game 19-19 at halftime.

Oregon State scored 17 points unanswered between the third quarter and mid-way through the fourth quarter, taking the lead on ASU, 36-19. The Sun Devils made a last gasp attempt to catch up to the Beavers with a touchdown with only 22 seconds left on the clock. That wouldn't be enough time for ASU. Oregon State held on, 36-26.

Box Score Hero: Oregon State senior wide receiver Markus Wheaton had four receptions for 108 yards and two ouchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications: Currently holding down the No. 11 spot, Oregon State's victory over the unranked Sun Devils will probably keep them around the same area in the rankings.

But Did They Cover? The Beavers were 3½ point favorites coming into the game. The additional points wouldn't be enough for ASU to cover.

Next Week's Schedule: ASU heads to Los Angeles to face Pac-12 rival, USC. Oregon State travels to Stanford.
