BCS Standings 2012, Week 12: Oregon jumps into championship game picture at No. 2

The computers haven't been easy on Oregon for most of 2012 but the Ducks finally caught a break Sunday and were bumped up to the No. 2 in the BCS Rankings.

The Oregon Ducks benefited from Alabama's first loss of the season and were moved up one spot to No. 2 in Sunday's most recent BCS Rankings.

Conversely, Alabama dropped to No. 4 with Kansas State moving up to the top spot in the BCS rankings. That means that if the season ended today, the Ducks would be playing in the BCS National Championship game against the No. 1 ranked Wildcats.

The Ducks still have some challenges ahead with No. 13 Stanford and No. 16 Oregon State on tap before the Pac-12 Championship game. But because of their remaining strength of schedule, Oregon will be a shoe-in for college football's biggest game as long as they handle their business.

Oregon might have some difficulties leapfrogging the Wildcats though as Kansas State only have Baylor and No. 15 Texas left to finish out their season.

As for the other school in Oregon, the Beavers were dropped five spots to No. 16 with their second loss of the season.
