The Gonzaga Bulldogs get a final tune-up against the South Dakota Coyotes on Sunday afternoon in Spokane before heading off to partake in the Old Spice Classic over the Thanksgiving break.
The Zags are coming off one of their most complete victories in recent memory as they absolutely dismantled the West Virginia Mountaineers 84-50 last Monday.
Six players are averaging double-digit points for Gonzaga, who so far have rattled off 187 points in two games. Coach Mark Few has called this team his deepest in years and it reflects on the bench. Few has regularly run out a nine player rotation in the past two games, with most everyone on the team receiving close to at least 15 minutes of floor time a game.
The Coyotes are in the slow and painful process of transitioning to become a full fledged Division-I school. South Dakota was in the tops of Division-II until they began the switch to Division-I hoops in 2008. Last year, they joined The Summit League and went 10-18 (5-13 in conference) for the year. The Coyotes are 1-2 and feature quite a young lineup with only one senior on the team. They are led by junior forward Trevor Gruis who averages 15 points and 7.5 rebounds a game.
Game time/date: Sunday, Nov. 18; 1:00 p.m. PT
