The Gonzaga Bulldog's men's basketball team opened the preseason No. 21 in the AP preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Zags are one spot higher in the preseason poll than they were in the preseason coaches poll where they came in at No. 22. Gonzaga is the only ranked WCC team, although the St. Mary's Gaels received votes.
After a down Pac-12 year, the Zags are no longer the class of the west coast. Multiple Pac-12 teams landed in the polls, with UCLA sitting at No. 13 and Arizona at No. 12. In fact, Gonzaga is the lowest ranked team on the west coast, with San Diego State landing one spot ahead of the Zags at No. 20.
Gonzaga opens the regular season against Southern Utah University on Nov. 9. They have one preseason game on Saturday against Northwest Nazarene University.
