VIDEO: Mickey McConnell Hits Game-Winner As St. Mary's Defeats Gonzaga

Gonzaga and St. Mary's went at it on Thursday night in Spokane, going down to the wire in a hard-fought game. It was close throughout, and Gonzaga tied it with just 10 seconds left after Marquis Carter drilled two free throws. It looked like we were headed for overtime, until the Gaels stepped in and took control.

I say the Gaels, but it was really Mickey McConnell. With time winding down and the ball in his hands, McConnell delivered one of the better game-winners I've seen this year (via BubbaProg of 30fps).

One minute, the Zags forced appeared to force overtime. The next, St. Mary's was celebrating at McCarthey Athletic Center for the first time. The win was the first by a WCC opponent at the Kennel since 2007, when Santa Clara beat the Zags on their home court. It also kept the Gaels undefeated in conference play while dropping Gonzaga to 3-3.

All this happened because of McConnell's amazingly clutch shot. McConnell finished with 27 points, six rebounds and four assists in the win, easily leading the way for St. Mary's. Add the leaner in the lane for the win in and you've got a pretty good day.
