With the 125th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones. In Jones, the Raiders are getting a burner who can be electrifying in the open-field and has the ability to make defenders miss while turning on the jets and running away from the defense. Questions about his durability knocked him down a hair in the draft, but Jones went early during the third day of picks, as expected.
While Jones can be one of the best when healthy, a steady stream of injuries had many general managers wondering if he’d be able to survive the wear-and-tear of the NFL. Before declaring for the 2011 NFL Draft, Jones was hampered by a foot injury sustained during the FCS playoffs, limiting his workouts and, perhaps, hurting his draft stock. But those that saw tape on Jones agreed: He may be one of the best open-field runners in the draft.
