Eastern Washington Vs. Delaware: Blue Hens Turning FCS Championship Into A Rout

The Eastern Washington Eagles started the second half of the FCS Championship on the right foot, forcing the Delaware Blue Hens to punt and finally beginning to move the ball. A high pass by Eastern quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, a tipped ball and an interception ended the drive and gave Delaware the chance to, effectively, end the game in the third quarter. Again, Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin look sharp putting together a strong drive for the Hens.

It took 10 plays to travel 60 yards, but Delaware finally found the end zone again, after settling for field goals in the first half. Andrew Pierce did the work on the ground, breaking a 17-yard run early in the drive to jump-start the Hens. Devlin only threw two passes, letting the Delaware rushing attack do the talking as they wore down the Eagles defense. David Hayes ended the drive, plunging into the end zone from one yard out.

With that, the Eagles look to be in serious trouble, trailing Delaware in the third quarter, 19-0. With the offense stalling and the defense looking worn out, it’s a tough road ahead for the Eagles to claw back into this.
