2012 BCS standings: Oregon No. 3, Oregon State No. 8 in first BCS rankings of season

The Oregon Ducks are ranked No. 3 in the initial BCS season standings with the Oregon State Beavers coming in at No. 8.

Scott Olmos-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

After seven weeks of the college football regular season, the first BCS rankings of the year were released Sunday. The Alabama Crimson Tide took the top spot, with SEC foe Florida sitting at No. 2. The Oregon Ducks, idle this weekend, are ranked No. 3 in the initial BCS season standings, with the Oregon State Beavers, 42-24 winners on Saturday, coming in at No. 8.

Addicted to Quack, SB Nation's Oregon blog, had this to add regarding the Ducks' initial BCS ranking:

The biggest news has to be that the BCS rankings finally came out and even though Oregon is ranked #2 in both the Harris and the USA Today poll, they are #3 in the in the BCS due to the computers. Obviously, being ranked third in the BCS means nothing right now with the season only half over, but it is quite surprising considering the Ducks have held pretty steady at that #2 spot for some time.
