BCS Rankings: Auburn Jumps Oregon; Stanford In Line For A BCS Bowl At No. 4

The BCS rankings for week 14 are out and the news is good for the Pac-10. Auburn did jump Oregon, taking the No. 1 spot in the rankings from the Ducks, but neither team is in any jeopardy of falling to third as long as each finishes the season with a win. The two are, once again, followed by TCU. The No. 3 ranking puts the Horned Frogs into the Rose Bowl, should the rankings hold for one more week. If either the Ducks or Tigers slip-up in the final week of the season, TCU is poised to jump into the BCS National Championship Game.

Stanford moved up to No. 4 this week, which should be good news for Pac-10 schools. If the Cardinal remain at No. 4 in the final rankings, and the Ducks finish undefeated, the Pac-10 will be guaranteed two BCS bowl berths. A No. 4 ranking comes with a guarantee of an at-large BCS berth. With Stanford and Wisconsin both done for the year, it appears the Cardinal have locked up a second BCS bowl for the conference.

Wisconsin, fourth in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, checks in at No. 5. The Badgers will receive a BCS bowl invitation, by way of the Big Ten’s automatic berth, no matter where they finish at this point. Ohio State, Arkansas and Michigan State, Oklahoma and LSU round out the top-10. Boise State fell to No. 11 with the loss.
