The Oregon Ducks remained at No. 1 in the AP Top-25 for the seventh straight week. The Auburn Tigers, fresh off a comeback win over Alabama in the Iron Bowl, continued to make up ground, picking up another two first-place votes and narrowing the gap between No. 1 and No. 2 to just 19 points. TCU moved up one spot to No. 3, well behind Oregon and Auburn.
With losses by Boise State and LSU, both former top-5 teams, shaking up the rankings, Wisconsin and Stanford benefited the most. The Badgers jumped into the top-5, snatching the No. 4 spot with a convincing win over Iowa. Stanford was close behind at No. 5, just five points behind the Badgers. Boise State and LSU fell to No. 9 and No. 11, respectively.
Stanford and Oregon were the only two Pac-10 teams in the rankings, as expected. The Arizona Wildcats were ranked last week, but fell to Oregon on Friday night, 48-29. The Wildcats were just outside the top-25, checking in as the highest vote getting in the others receiving votes category.
