College Football Rankings, Week 10: Washington To Visit AP, Coaches And BCS No. 1 Oregon

The Oregon Ducks are No. 1 in the BCS rankings for the first time and will celebrate by welcoming the Washington Huskies to Autzen Stadium on Saturday. The Ducks, number one in the AP, Coaches and Harris Polls leapfrogged the Auburn Tigers to take the top spot in the third BCS rankings of the year yesterday. It only took a few weeks, but we have a consensus No. 1 in college football, and they reside right here in the Northwest.

The Huskies face a tough task in solving the Oregon Ducks. USC tried last weekend and failed down the stretch to stop the Ducks’ potent offense. If the Huskies were to win — considering the games they’ve played the last two weeks against Arizona and Stanford — it would be a huge upset with bragging rights for an eternity.

The Huskies and Washington State Cougars are no stranger to taking on ranked opponents. The Huskies are enduring the same gauntlet the Cougars just finished against Pac-10 teams ranking in the BCS. No. 13 Stanford and No. 15 Arizona make it an even three in the top-15 of the BCS rankings. The Cougars took on those three in consecutive games earlier this year and the Huskies just finished with Arizona and Stanford before moving on to Oregon to round-out the trio this weekend.

With the Pac-10 looking strong at the top and the Ducks taking the pole-position for the BCS National Championship game, every week is going to be tough in this conference. For the Huskies, it makes their rivalry with Oregon even more fierce.
