The Seattle Seahawks enter the 2013 NFL Draft with most of their needs already addressed in free agency. They traded their first round pick for Percy Harvin, then signed Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett to shore up the pass rush. With few glaring needs left on the roster, the team can focus on finding value in the later rounds in the draft.
SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn released a three-round mock draft on Monday. There are no trades in this mock, so that leaves the Seahawks waiting until the 56th pick, where they select Purdue DT Kawann Short. Short is projected to go as high as the late first round, making this a valuable steal:
The Seahawks get a solid three-technique prospect provided they can keep him motivated.
In the third round, Seattle makes another interesting selection, as Fairburn projects them to pick LSU CB/S Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu's character concerns and lack of a natural position are well documented, but if Pete Carroll and company can keep him in line, he could be a quality addition to the secondary.
