Kellen Winslow Gets Physical For Patriots In Preparation To Sign, Per Report

It appears that tight end Kellen Winslow was not out of a job for long. He is getting a physical from the New England Patriots on Wednesday, signaling a likely signing according to CSN New England's Mary Paoletti on Twitter.

Nothing is official, though the Patriots will likely place Visanthe Shiancoe on injured reserve, which means that they are still looking for depth at tight end behind Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.

Winslow, a nine-year veteran out of the University of Miami, was acquired by the Seahawks this offseason via a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which, as it turns out, ends up costing the Seahawks nothing, as the compensation was dependent upon Winslow making the roster). However, it did not work out after he refused a pay restructure. He has 437 career catches for 4,836 yards and 23 touchdowns.
