Oregon State opens as an eight-point favorite in what has become its season opener Saturday against No. 12 Wisconsin.
The Beavers' scheduled opener against Nicholls State was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac-related weather problems at Nicholls State's campus in Thibodaux, La. It is still unclear if Oregon State will reschedule the game this season — an open date Dec. 1 is possible, but it could conflict if Oregon State reaches the Pac-12 championship game or if Nicholls State plays in the FCS playoffs — or play an 11-game schedule.
The No. 12 Badgers held off Northern Iowa in their 26-21 season-opening win Saturday. Wisconsin took a 26-7 lead with 12:31 left in the game on a 53-yard pass from Danny O'Brien to Jared Abbrederis, but the Panthers scored two quick touchdowns to come within 26-21 with 7:24 left.
Northern Iowa had a fourth-and-1 opportunity from the Wisconsin 41-yard line with just under three minutes left, but a pass attempt fell incomplete, and Wisconsin ran out the clock.
The Beavers will host the Badgers 1 p.m. PT Saturday at Reser Stadium.
