Seahawks vs. Rams: Pete Carroll talks Russell Wilson, injuries, defense and more

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll held his regular weekly press conference on Wednesday with the media. He discussed QB Russell Wilson, team injuries, the Seahawks defensive unit and more during his time at the mic.

Carroll said that left guard James Carpenter has a chance to play this Sunday, as the offensive lineman has been live and in action. Carroll likes Carpenter on the left side, and left guard is probably his best fit. That might mean Paul McQuistan will become more of a flex lineman.

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin has also been practicing. Baldwin missed Monday Night's game against the Packers. Offensive tackle Breno Giacomini has a chest issue, and defensive end Greg Scruggs is dealing with a wrist problem. Both Brandon Browner and Bobby Wagner will be okay after some tough hits in trying to recover Cedric Benson's fumble.

The Seahawks defense was singled out by Carroll, particularly in their first half performance in shutting down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Carroll also talked about his quarterback Russell Wilson and how effective he was, although he'd like Wilson to stay in the pocket a little longer.
