Seattle Sounders FC forward Eddie Johnson was voted the Player of the Week after scoring both goals in the Sounders' 2-1 win over Chivas USA at CenturyLink Field on Saturday.
Johnson's two goals give him 13 on the season, a new franchise record. Fellow forward Fredy Montero has scored 12 goals in a season twice, in 2009 and 2011.
This is Johnson's second MLS Player of the Week award. He previously won after the Sounders dropped the L.A. Galaxy, 4-0. Johnson scored one goal in that matchup. The high-scoring forward has won the award five times throughout his MLS career.
A panel of journalists from North America Soccer Reporters select the MLS Player of the Week each week of the regular season.
This is Johnson's reunion tour with the MLS after a brief stint with Fulham FC that saw him loaned to multiple teams during his three-year European career.
