The threat of a thunderstorm has stayed away at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island during the first round of play at the 2012 PGA Championship, but the threat of a Dutchman taking the tournament is very real as the field is currently chasing Joost Luiten after his blistering start on Thursday.
Luiten is on-fire at the Ocean Course at the moment, sitting at 7-under through 15 holes on his round today. He's carded six birdies and an eagle so far, looking to hang on to the lead down the stretch.
There are still a number of players lurking, including Carl Petterson at 6-under for the day, while Rory McIlroy carded a bogey-free 67 to find himself 5-under for the tournament, tied with American Gary Woodland.
John Daly is off to a great start as well, firing a 4-under 68 on Thursday, while Tiger Woods finished at 3-under 69 for his first round. He carded three bogies and six birdies on the day.
