2012 Olympics, Medal Count: Team USA Drops To Second On Sunday

The United States has won big in swimming, gymnastics and various other events this summer in London, propelling them near the top of the medal leaderboard. The U.S. held a slight lead in the overall and gold medal count entering Sunday, but a strong showing from China moved them back into first place. The U.S. now sits comfortably in second.

Here is a look at the countries which have performed best thus far. The first number represents the total number of medals they've won, followed by the amount of gold, silver and bronze they'll be bringing back home.

1. China: 61 (30 - 17 - 14)
2. United States: 60 (28 - 14 - 18)
3. Great Britain: 37 (16 - 11 - 10)
4. Russia: 35 (4 - 16 - 15)
5. Japan: 27 (2 - 12 - 13)
6. France: 25 (8 - 8 - 9)
7. Germany: 22 (5 - 10 - 7)
