2012 Olympics Schedule: Team USA Ready For Swimming, Track & Field Events

Saturday will mark the eighth day of competition in London and the 2012 Olympics. The United States' representatives have performed very well thus far, winning a total of 43 medals. Here is a preview of what is to come on August 4.

Team USA basketball awaits a challenge from Lithuania. Lithuania will provide a bigger test than Nigeria -- a team the US beat by 80+ on Thursday -- but it would be a shock if the Americans did not win by 25+ due to their sheer advantage in talent and athleticism.

Swimming will wrap up on Saturday for the most part with four gold medals up for grabs. At 11:30 a.m. PST, the women's 50m freestyle will begin. This race will be followed by the men's 1500m freestyle at 11:36. After a brief delay the women's 4x100m IM is scheduled to start at 12:06 p.m. The final race of the day is the men's 4x100m IM, and that's set for 12:27.

Competition in Track & Field will continue on Saturday. The main events will be the men's long jump and the running of the 10,000m final. The female athletes who qualified yesterday will compete for medals in the discus throw and 100m dash.

Here is the complete schedule for today's events.
