The countdown to 53 continued Friday as the Seahawks released 2012 fifth-round pick linebacker Korey Toomer and offensive guard Paul Faniaka.
Toomer was a raw athlete out of Idaho University when the Seahawks drafted him this year and was expected to be a project in training camp. Many publications didn't have the linebacker even coming off of any draft board, but the Seahawks were watching Toomer during the dog days of draft workouts and were one of the few teams to offer him a private workout.
Faniaka was signed by the Seahawks in 2010 from the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He was drafted in 2009 by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although official word hasn't leaked out, according to Allen Bradford's Twitter account, the linebacker looks like he was shown the door as well.
