After 18 holes on Thursday, Padraig Harrington leads the field at The Barclays in Farmingdale, New York, shooting a 7-under 64. The Irishman is being chased by Americans Nick Watney and Brian Harman, who are at 6-under.
Tiger Woods, who has an impressive history at Bethpage Black, sits in a tie for 14th place at 3-under. Woods birdied two of the course's three par-5s, a sound sign that the man who won the 2002 U.S. Open at the course is staying in the hunt with his power game.
The world's top-ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy, currently is tied for 26th place at 2-under. Dustin Johnson, who won The Barclays last year, shot a 4-under 67 on Thursday.
Kyle Stanley, who is from Gig Harbor, Wash., is currently at even-par with a slew of others, while Ben Crane out of the University of Oregon is 1-over 72 after the first round.
