Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez has thrown a perfect game through seven innings against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
Through 85 pitches, 56 of which were strikes, Hernandez and the Mariners lead Tampa Bay 1-0 during the bottom of the seventh inning in Seattle. Hernandez has faced 21 batters and has seven strikeouts through seven.
The 26-year-old right-hander got his last three outs by Rays' groundouts.
The Mariners scored their only run on a Jesus Montero RBI single that scored Brendan Ryan.
On the year, Hernandez has a record of 10-5 with a 2.65 ERA for Seattle. Hernandez had been hot of late, and he had won six games in a row before his last outing against the Los Angeles Angels, where he gave up four earned runs.
The seven-year pro has an overall record of 95-72 with a career 3.19 ERA.
