The Seattle Mariners organization stated that they were going to start slowing Danny Hultzen down, and they meant it. Hultzen went from July 28th until last night without making a start, and then was lifted before getting out of the fourth inning despite pitching relatively well.
His final line: 3.2 innings, 2 hits, 0 R, 2 BB, and 3 K.
Through three innings, Hultzen had 3 K and no walks, but was lifted after recording two outs and two walks in the fourth and had thrown 64 pitches. He had been mostly dialed in up until the point and could have possibly escaped the jam if the team wasn't holding him back right now.
In the end, the Rainiers ended up blowing a 2-0 lead by allowing a run in each of the last three innings to fall to Nashville 3-2.
On a rehab assignment, Charlie Furbush pitched 2 innings of relief and allowed 1 hit, 0 R, 0 BB, and 1 K.
