No Oregon Football Penalties Coming From NCAA Yet

Reports that the NCAA was preparing to hand down penalties to Oregon football were premature, it appears.

Though the College Football Internet that loves itself a good NCAA penalty beatdown to opine about started rumbling this week with the rumor that the Oregon Ducks football team was going to be hit with official penalties this week stemming from their recruiting scandal, it appears they were, again, premature.

I'll let SB Nation's college football editor, Jason Kirk, describe the way this has all gone down, because

it's pretty perfect.

You know how every month or so for the last five years, some Arrested Development cast member would say something about getting the show going again, and the Internet would light up? Waiting for Oregon's NCAA punishment has been kind of like that. Every few weeks, somebody reports THE END IS NEAR and then nothing happens.

Carry on.
