Heading into Sunday, some familiar names were hovering around the top of the leaderboard at the 2012 PGA Championship in South Carolina. Tiger Woods. Vijay Singh. Carl Pettersson. But ultimately, the young man who held a share of the lead as the rain-delayed third round and championship fourth round began on Sunday picked up a dominating win in the major event.
The day belonged to Rory McIlroy, who shot a 6-under fourth round to finish at an impressive 13-under in the tournament. Even more impressive? The runner-up was David Lynn, who could only manage a 5-under in the event.
Singh plummeted with a 5-over final round and wound up in a tie for 36th with a cumulative 3-over. Woods, meanwhile, shot an even par in his fourth round and his 2-under was only good for an 11th place tie. Pettersson was one of four golfers who finished in a third-place tie at 4-under.
