Hope Solo Tests Positive On Drug Test

Sounders Women goalkeeper/U.S. Women National Team goalkeeper/U.S. Olympic Team goalkeeper/all around face of US Soccer Hope Solo received a public warning from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency after she positive for the substance Canrerone.

Solo accepted the public rebuking, admitting an honest mistake, and still will playing in the 2012 London Olympics.

"I took a medication prescribed by my personal doctor for pre-menstrual purposes that I did not know contained a diuretic," Solo said in a statement. "Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and that the medication did not enhance my performance in any way."

Canrerone is commonly used as an inhibitor for urination. Because Canrenone is classified as a specified substance, its finding often results in a reduced sanction.
