The Toronto Blue Jays announced the release of 49-year old Jamie Moyer on Thursday night. Moyer signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays in late June. The former Seattle Mariner struggled in his two starts with the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51's.
In his second start with the 51's on Tuesday, Moyer gave up ten hits and seven earned runs in six innings of work. In his previous start against the Tacoma Rainiers, Moyer allowed 7 hits and three earned runs in five innings last week.
Moyer started the 2012 season on the Colorado Rockies roster, but was later released by the team after compiling a 5.70 ERA in 10 starts. The Baltimore Orioles signed Moyer to a minor league deal in early June, but never promoted him to their big league roster, eventually granting him a release.
The latest news could mark the end of Moyer's long 25-year career.
