London Olympics 2012: Travis Stevens Misses Out On Bronze Medal In Judo

Seattle native Travis Stevens was unable to snag a spot on the Judo 81kg/178 lbs medal stand as he lost his bronze medal match to Germany's Bischof Ole. Ole ended up finishing with the silver medal as Korea's Jae-Bum Kim game away with the gold. Russia's Ivan Nifontov and Canada's Antoine Valois-Fortier both earned bronze medals.

Stevens was looking to improve upon the Americans track record in Judo but was unable to do so. While Japan has dominated the event with 65 total medals including 35 gold, the USA has never earned a gold medal and only has 10 total, seven of them being bronze. Stevens was seen as having a shot to bring home at least another bronze, but it wasn't meant to be.
