Olympic Games 2012 Recap: Nathan Adrian, Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Cullen Jones Fail To Nab Relay Gold

It was another rough day for the United States men's swimming team. Although they nabbed a few more medals, they failed to notch an important gold in the 4 x 100

Nathan Adrian of Bremerton wasn't part of the problem. Adrian swam a really strong opening leg to put the USA up on top and in a seemingly strong position to win another gold medal in the event. After Phelps seemed to hold things though, France began to close the gap on Cullen Jones's third leg, and Ryan Lochte was overtaken in the anchor leg as the USA fell just short of gold. There will be some controversy as to whether Lochte should have swum the final leg over Adrian (a 100 meter freestyle natural), but the strategy didn't end up working out for them.
