According to several sources, the Seattle Mariners are nearing a deal to trade reliever Brandon League, although an exact trading partner has not been revealed yet.

The Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants have been in talks with the Mariners for League according to a report on MLB.com. Giants beat writer Henry Schulman says the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking at League as well.

League lost his closer's job to Tom Wilhelmsen in May after a series of blown saves. The 29-year-old was a an All-Star in 2011 and finished the season 37 saves and a 2.79 ERA, but struggled as the M's closer at the beginning of the 2012 season.

Since Wilhelmsen's emergence as a dependable closer, League has become a trade chip, though his perceived value is at question because of his status of not being a closer.
