Comparisons are always made in professional sports. For every "Next Peyton Manning" who comes out of college, there's an unheralded player that becomes an MVP and Super Bowl champion one day.
Jake Locker has drawn plenty of comparisons with the Tennessee Titans since being drafted out of UW two years ago. There have been some interesting ones, but how about a comparison to Vince Young?
One of his teammates seems plenty of similarities.
Here is the latest from Pro Football Talk:
It's funny, then, that Titans corner Alterraun Verner chose to invoke the name of the former Titan when asked to compare Locker to another NFL quarterback while he was a guest of Ross Tucker and Alex Marvez on Sirius XM NFL Radio show. It's important to note that Verner didn't mean it as a negative judgment on Locker, who he raved about elsewhere in the interview.
"The reason why I say that is that I feel like Vince Young was a winner. Vince always tried to find a way to win."
I imagine Verner was referring to Young's days at Texas as far as being a "winner" goes, because his tenure in the NFL has been a very poor one. We can only hope things turn out better for Locker in the coming years.
As for what's next for Locker, he will continue battling Matt Hasselbeck for the starting job with the Titans.
