The highly-anticipated matchup between Jamie Moyer and Danny Hultzen ended with a "hmph" after Hultzen was unable to go past 4 innings and reliever Steven Hensley did much more than just squander a 3-1 Rainiers lead in the fifth.
Hultzen went 4 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 ER, 4 BB and 6 K needing 90 pitches to get through those 4 innings against the Las Vegas 51s lineup and only 52 pitches going for strikes. Hensley came out for the fifth with a 3-1 lead, faced seven batters, and recorded zero outs while six of those batters went on to score. The 51s ended up winning 11-4.
Moyer, 49, picked up the victory after 5 innings, 7 hits, 3 ER, 1 BB and 6 Ks against the Rainiers lineup. It was his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays affiliate and he most likely won't spend much time with the team but as fate had it, he wound up making a start and picking up a win against one of his former team's top prospects.
Nick Franklin was 2-for-5 with a triple and is now hitting .233/.281/.367 in seven games with the team.
