Serena Williams made sure that at least one of the Williams' sisters would stay alive for a Wimbledon title after defeating Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova, 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday to advance to the second round.
Serena's sister, Venus, was knocked out of the first round of the tournament on Monday. Serena was knocked out of this year's French Open in the first round as well so this makes two straight Grand Slams where one of the sisters didn't get out of the first round.
Serena's loss in the French Open was the first time she lost in the first round of a Grand Slam Tournament. Her record is now 47-1 in that position.
Williams is looking for her first Grand Slam title since the 2010 Wimbledon and her first Grand Slam final since losing to Samantha Stosur in the 2011 U.S. Open.
Williams is currently ranked no. 6 in the world.
