As if one quarterback competition wasn't enough for Seattle NFL fans, the Titans' two-man race to grab the starting quarterback job is of particular interest to local fans as well. Seattle legends in former Seahawk Matt Hasselbeck and former Husky Jake Locker are pitted in a close competition to open Week One under center for Tennessee, and per one report, the wily veteran holds a slim lead. Per Pro Football Weekly's Arthur Arkush,
"If Jake Locker isn't the starter under center for the Titans in Week One - and we continue to hear Matt Hasselbeck is the front-runner - it's not an indictment on Locker as much as it's a testament to Hasselbeck. That has been the consistent message from the multiple sources we have talked to since it was revealed that the pair will battle it out for the job under center this offseason."
PFW notes that the "word is both players were impressive throughout offseason training," with Locker slimming down and Hasselbeck playing with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. Whoever wins out there in Tennessee, whether it's the young gun or the savvy vet, it will be fun to watch them both play in Seattle during their preseason Week One matchup (August 11th).
