Jake Locker On Quarterback Battle With Matt Hasselbeck, Transition To NFL And More

Former Washington Huskies quarterback Jake Locker is in Tennessee battling it out with Matt Hasselbeck for the Titans starting QB position, and he spoke about that and more with Sports Radio KJR's Mitch in the Morning. Hasslebeck's comment's on that, working with Kendall Wright and more after the jump.

Kendall Wright was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and was injured diving for a throw from Locker in recent team activities. The hosts asked Locker how it was working with someone who had been instrumental in Baylor's 2011 Alamo Bowl victory over Locker's alma mater Huskies, joking that the injury might have stemmed from that. Locker laughed, and said that he'd given Wright grief about it but was excited to be playing with such a talented receiver.

Locker also praised Kenny Britt, who the Titans lost to a knee injury midway through the 2011 season. Asked about his competition for the starting QB job, he pointed out that the sport was built on competition and said he was just excited for the opportunity. It's his goal to start, he said, but he knows Matt is a veteran and if he doesn't get his chance now it will come down the road. He spoke briefly about the transition to the NFL, saying that playing with the best athletes really does speed up the game.

Audio of the seven minute interview is available here.
