Seattle Mariners: Felix Hernandez Receives Treatment For Sore Back

Via MLB.com's Greg Johns, we learn that Seattle Mariner's starting pitcher Felix Hernandez received treatment for his sore back on Saturday.

Felix Hernandez receiving treatment on sore back today. Concern for next start? "Not right now," says [Mariners manager Eric] Wedge.

More on the situation after the jump.

Hernandez tweaked his back Friday night in the second inning of the team's 7-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox. He stayed in the game for three innings following his slip, pitching five innings total. He gave up three home runs and walked four without picking up a decision. In post-game comments Hernandez downplayed the slip's impact on his performance, instead pointing to trouble locating his fastball as the source of his difficulties. Hernandez has had an inconsistent 2012 season so far, and obviously the Mariners would prefer that he sort things out and show more of the form that won him the Cy Young Award in 2010. Regardless of his sore back or his fastball troubles, Hernandez is not expected to miss his next scheduled start.
