NCAA Baseball Scores: Washington Beats Washington State 5-2

Washington defeated Washington State 5-2 on Saturday, taking game one of a three game series.

Washington defeated Washington State 5-2 on Saturday afternoon, taking the first game of a three game series.

The Huskies struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first on a double by Jacob Lamb and a single by Branden Berry. They added another in the second on an RBI single by Jayce Ray. Washington State answered with two in the third when Collin Slaybaugh picked up two RBI on a double. The score was tied 2-2 until Washington State pulled ahead again in the fifth on an RBI single from Joe Meggs, then added a pair of insurance runs, one in the sixth and one in the eighth. Zach Wright picks up the win in relief for Washington, whose starter Tyler Davis lasted only 4.2 innings.

Washington improves to 13-16 with the win, and Washington State falls to 11-18. A full scoreboard for the game can be found here.
