The Washington State basketball program has something to be proud of as one of its alums, current Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson will be named to the USA Select Team that will scrimmage against the U.S. men's national team, according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Steinmetz.
The official announcement hasn't been made but Thompson's inclusion shouldn't be much of a surprise after a strong ending to his rookie campaign.
Thompson scored in double figures in 31 of the final 32 games of the season and looks to have the starting two-guard spot next to Stephen Curry locked up for the foreseeable future.
Thompson will join a team that will include the Wizards' John Wall, Kings' DeMarcus Cousins and the Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving
"I heard, and I don't think it's been officially announced yet, but I heard he's been invited to the Team USA Select team to practice against the Olympic team in Vegas," Klay's father, Mychal Thompson said. "So, he's going to have a busy couple of months here, and that's good for him."
