Hultzen Shaky in Debut, Taijuan Walker Set to Make First Start This Morning

Top draft pick Danny Hultzen made his Mariners minor league debut last night, but left in the fifth inning and ended up allowing five runs, four hits, and walking three over four innings of work. Hultzen was cruising in his first three innings, but ran into the trouble in the fourth.

After allowing the first three batters to reach base in the fifth, Hultzen was pulled from the game. He did strike out seven batters, however. Jackson ended up losing the game 9-2.

The Generals were shut down for the most part on offense, managing just three hits, one of which was a two-run double from shortstop Nick Franklin. After four games, Franklin is 7-for-14 with two extra base hits.
