Nick Franklin Homers, Jackson Moves to 3-0; Danny Hultzen Debuts Today

Shortstop Nick Franklin homered for the first time this season for the Jackson Generals, in a 7-5 victory over Birmingham. Franklin is now 6-for-11 to start the year.

Catcher Ralph Henriquez broke a 5-5 tie in the eighth inning, and Stephen Pryor picked up his second save of the season. Top draft pick Danny Hultzen is set to make his minor league debut at Noon PST today. Listen here.

The Rainiers moved to 2-1 after an 8-2 victory over Salt Lake with Carlos Peguero hitting his second HR of the season. University of Washington grad Forrest Snow will make is 2012 debut for the Rainiers today.

The High Desert Mavericks put on a show against Lancaster yesterday with a 16-2 victory. Julio Morban homered twice and went 4-for-5, and SS Brad Miller went 3-for-4 with a HR. Jack Marder went 5-for-6 and James Gilheeney struck out 8 in 5 innings.

George Mieses gets the 3:05 PM start today for the Mavericks.

Finally, Jordan Shipers made his 2012 debut with the low-A Clinton Lumberkings and picked up the win after striking out four in five innings and allowing one earned run. Guillermo Pimental went 2-for-4 with a HR.

The Lumberkings do not play today.
