LaMichael James of the Oregon Ducks was considered one of the better runners in the 2012 NFL Draft, and he was picked in the second round with the 61st overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers. It's an interesting decision to get a player like LaMichael considering how crowded the Niners backfield is. The pick sort of is a curious one, although James does provide a nice change of pace from the usual power, physically runners they usually rely on.
Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated files this report card of all 32 NFL teams, and the 49ers don't come off too well, being graded with a D overall.
The 49ers made WR A.J. Jenkins a shocking pick at 29, then grabbed LaMichael James at 61 — James has home-run potential, but the 49ers already have a crowded backfield with similar players.
