Oregon Ducks Football Smokes It All, Estimated 40 To 60 Percent Marijuana Users

The Oregon Ducks have struggled with off-the-field issues for quite some time. Many of these situations have been marijuana-related. A lotof it has to do with the fact that the Ducks are right in the heart of weed-producing country, and a lot of it has to do with the fact that the Ducks are right in Eugene, a pretty isolated community from any of hte major West Coast cities.

So you'd figure stats like these would pop up. Sam Alipour reports from ESPN the Magazine.

The school's football program reflects those realities. In interviews with The Magazine, 19 current or former Oregon players and officials revealed widespread marijuana use by football players for at least the past 15 years. Former Ducks, including current pros, estimate between 40 percent and 60 percent of their teammates puffed; current Ducks say that range remains accurate.

It would not be surprising to see a study that found similar figures on football teams throughout the country. Marijuana is commonplace on college campuses regardless of the setting.
