2012 MLS Standings: Sounders FC In Good Shape Through Five Games

The Sounders FC are off to their best start in franchise history with ten points accumulated through five games played. At 3-1-1, the Sounders are tied for third place in the Western Conference with FC Dallas. Real Salt Lake is in first place with 15 points and a 5-2 record, while the San Jose Earthquakes are in second place with 13 points and a 4-1-1 record.

Saturday's 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids put the Sounders into the top half of the Western conference standings. This week the Sounders have a bye with the team returning to action on Saturday, April 28th against the Chicago Fire (1-1-2) at Bridgeview, IL.

The Sounders' goal on Saturday came from an unlikely head — that of Zach Scott's to be exact. Scott's header off of a corner kick in the 63rd minute was the difference-maker in Saturday's result.

If the Sounders can continue to get production from its usual offensive threats supplemented by surprise contributions from players like Scott, this team will continue to rise up the Western Conference standings.
