Rainiers Put On a Show in 15-5 Win, Lumberkings No-Hit for 5.1 Innings in Loss

The Tacoma Rainiers and Clinton Lumberkings, on opposite sides of the Mariners minor leagues affiliations, put on opposite sides of offensive output on Wednesday.

The Rainiers scored 15 runs on 22 hits against Colorado Springs and everyone except for Carlos Triunfel had at least two hits a piece. Trayvon Robinson, Luis Antonio Jimenez, Adam Moore, Chih-Hsien Chiang and Scott Savastano all had three hits each with home runs from Guillermo Quiroz and Johan Limonta.

The only name in the lineup I haven’t mentioned yet is Vinnie Catricala (the best prospect in Tacoma) and he went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Jeff Marquez got the start for Tacoma and went 5 innings, allowing 9 hits, 2 ER, 0 BB and 3 K.

The Rainiers move to 4-3 and face Colorado again today at 7:05 with Mauricio Robles getting the start.

On the other side of the spectrum are the lo-A Clinton Lumberkings and they had four hits total against Cedar Rapids, with starter Austin Wood (Angels) going 5 innings and allowing 0 hits, 2 BB, and 5 K. In his first start of the year, the Angels prospect struck out 10 in 5 innings.

Daniel Paolini broke up the no-no with a double in the sixth inning off of Joe Melioris. Jabari Blash also doubled and added a walk to his 1-for-3 night.

Clinton dropped to 1-5 on the year.
