High-Scoring High Desert Mavericks Out-High-Scored by Higher Score, Lose 10-6

The High Desert Mavericks (how high you say? Like 3000 feet!) continue to put on an offensive show, but the San Jose Giants put on an even more offensive show and beat the Mariners-affiliated Mavericks 10-6 on Wednesday.

Still, five regulars on the Mavs are still hitting over .400 on the year. Brad Miller (.419) extended his hitting streak to seven games by going 1-for-4, Jack Marder (.424) went 2-for-4 with a home run, and Stefen Romero (.464) was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.

Catcher John Hicks is hitting a paltry .393 but was 2-for-4 on the day.

Starter Chris Sorce was doing just enough to keep the Mavs in business and allowed 4 ER in 5.2 innings, but six runs were scored on reliever Austin Hudson (3 unearned) and the Mavs lost for the second time in a row. That record of 5-0 seems oh so long ago.

High Desert begins it’s first road trip of the year tomorrow, facing Inland Empire at 7:05 PM EST.
