Mike Carp Injured, Carlos Peguero Added to Roster

Two games into the season and we are already one injury in. Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times is reporting that Mike Carp injured his shoulder and has hit the 15 day DL.

One game in and the Mariners have already suffered their first potentially serious injury as everyday left fielder Mike Carp has a sprained shoulder and has gone on the 15-day disabled list. Carlos Peguero has been activated in his place. Carp injured the shoulder diving for a ball on that Kurt Suzuki double in last night's fourth inning. He remained in the game and made a leaping catch to take at least a double away from Josh Reddick in last night's ninth inning with the score tied.

For now, it looks like we'll be seeing a dual platoon of Chone Figgins/Kyle Seager at third base and Casper Wells/Chone Figgins at left field. Hopefully the wild free swinging ways of Carlos Peguero remain on the bench, but Peguero had just enough of pop in spring training to fool Eric Wedge into placing him into the lineup occasionally.
