WIAA State Basketball Tournament 2012: A.C. Davis Survives Bellarmine Prep, Moves On To 4A Finals

Tacoma's own Bellarmine Prep was unable to put away the A.C. Davis in the closing minutes of Friday night's semifinal game at the Tacoma Dome. Davis will participate in its first state championship game since 1965.

After leading through three quarters of play, the Lions' defense broke in the final two minutes of regulation. Bellarmine Prep's Isaiah Flynn made one of two free throws with 16 seconds remaining, putting the Lions up 41-39. On the subsequent possession, Davis' Devonte Luckett was fouled with four seconds on the clock and he made both free throws to send the game to overtime.

Luckett then took over for in the overtime period, scoring six of the Davis' 11 points. The senior forward finished with19 points and eight rebounds for the Pirates.

Bellarmine Prep was led by junior forwards Lucas Meikle and Sefo Liufau who each scored 15 points and 12 points respectively.

A.C. Davis will face the winner of the Central Valley/Union game in the 4A state championship at 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Bellarmine Prep will face the loser of the game at 1 p.m. for third place.
