WIAA State Basketball Tournament 2012: Rainier Beach Escapes University, Moves On To 3A Final

Rainier Beach's Anrio Adams played sparingly in Friday afternoon's 3A semifinal game against the University Titans, but he made every minute count.

Plagued by early fouls, Adams re-entered the game in the fourth quarter with 5:44 to go, scoring seven of his team's final 11 points. The Vikings' (26-3) 61-53 victory over the Titans (20-5) lands them in the Boys 3A final on Saturday night.

Despite racking up 16 second-half fouls, the Vikings prevailed behind the guard play of junior guard Will Dorsey. Dorsey finished with 16 points on five-for-eight shooting.

University was led by the junior guard Brett Bailey and senior guard Jared Miller who each scored 15 points. After carrying an eight point lead into halftime, Rainier Beach sprinted into a 6-0 run to begin the second half. Dorsey's three-pointer with 4:42 remaining in the third quarter gave Rainier Beach a 39-38 lead; Beach led for the rest of the game thereafter.

The Titans will face the loser of the other 3A semifinal game between Seattle Prep and Kamiakan at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday morning.
