The 2012 NCAA Tournament got its first real dose of Madness when No. 15 Norfolk State upset No. 2 seed Missouri Friday afternoon, 86-84. The Norfolk State Spartans became the first 15-seed to beat a 2-seed since 2001, and it marks only the fifth time it's happened in the tournament's history. The team that no one has heard of, and has never been to the tourney before, managed to get the win on 54.2 percent shooting from the field - 62.5 percent in the second half - and 10 of 19 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. The MEAC champions and winners of seven straight games just shocked the world. Well, America, anyway.
The loss, obviously, came as a huge disappointment for the Tigers, but more so, was extremely surprising. Missouri had been playing very, very well lately, dominating the Big-12 Conference Tournament on their way to earning a No. 2 seed.
